In the welcoming space of the Creazzo Public Library, we introduced Gateo, a mascot designed to captivate the imaginations of young readers. Gateo, which means ‘kitten’ in the local dialect, is a cartoonish cat that serves as a friendly guide through the library’s diverse sections.

Our vision for Gateo was to create a base design that could be adapted to represent the various categories of books. Each Gateo sports a unique feature that corresponds to its section, making it easy for children to identify and navigate to their desired genres. This approach not only simplifies the library’s layout but also adds an element of discovery and fun to the reading experience.

The combination of a playful, familiar feline figure with whimsical, handmade typography creates an inviting atmosphere that encourages children to explore the world of literature. The color scheme for each Gateo is carefully selected from a palette of soft pastels, enhancing the library’s ambiance with a gentle and cheerful energy.
